Massage Techniques:

Different Massage Techniques Part 1

by: By Jason Rusch

I think you will agree that there is nothing quite like a relaxing massage after a hard day at work, after youve finished exercising or maybe youre just making the most of your vacation away from your hectic lifestyle. Whatever the reason there are quite a few massage techniques available to choose from and in part 1 of this article I will touch on some of these techniques so when your due for your next massage you can choose the one that suits you.

Massage- The Basics

The most common form of massage is when one visits a massage parlor and provides a fee for a general massage of between 10 minutes and 1 hour. In the consultation the client provides feedback as to what areas of the body he or she is in need of therapeutic relief.

If you find that the massage 'hurts' in certain areas this is ok as the massage process is designed to put pressure on these points so that the bodies healing process kicks in and begins to heal the damaged areas. Be aware that if the affected area hurts too much it could be actually doing more damage to the body; this is why good communication between the client and masseuse is very important.

The Chair Massage

The chair massage would have to be the most convenient form of therapeutic massage due to its speed, effectiveness and convenience. One of the good things about the chair massage is that the client is fully clothed whilst receiving therapy making it a lot more comfortable for the client. This type of therapy mainly focuses in the neck, back and shoulders and usually lasts for between 10 and 20 minutes.

The Deep Tissue Massage

This massage technique is more commonly designed for the more involved and focused therapy. Deep tissue massage involves the masseuse using varied parts of their body to penetrate through different layers of tissue to get to the trouble spots. This involves using hands, feet, fingers, elbows and arms. This technique is a slower process but more effective process.

The Head Massage

The head massage is most popular between family, friends and loved ones, and is a great tension and stress reliever. Lasting for around half an hour the scalp and upper neck is massaged using the fingers whilst applying pressure to different parts of the scalp. Once again good communication is vital for ultimate satisfaction.

Stay tuned for part 2 when we reveal more relaxing massage techniques

Hi, Fernando!

Finished the download. As we say here in Hawai`i, "mahalo nui"!
(thanks a lot!)...great stuff!

Got the videos to learn how to give my girlfriend a better massage,
so will be trying it out this Tues.-Wed. (then it's her turn to try
it on me!).

Aloha,

Testimony from Massage Student:
I want to thank you for putting together this comprehensive and knowledgeable video set for educating therapist about how to give a proper massage! This will go a long way in my education. It's just like having a personal instructor on hand, to learn all about giving a massage. Thank you so much for this video series!

Hello!
Thank you for your informative video! I love it.
I was finally able to download after the movie open, and I click on Save As, and it will start to download. You can give that hint to others, if they can't figure out what to do, once the movie starts, just let it play and click FILE  (SAVE AS), and then save to computer.  It takes a long time to download. You might wish to consider zipping the file and then they can download a bundle at a time. Total minute for me was around 1 hr. to download everything on cable DSL speed.

Cheers,
Elizabeth
